Peugeot 508 R83
The second-generation Peugeot 508 (R83) launched in 2018 as a five-door liftback and a five-door estate, with a China-exclusive four-door 508L saloon. Petrol power comes from the 1.2 PureTech (EB2ADTS, 130 PS) and the 1.6 PureTech (EP6FDT, 180-225 PS). Diesels are the 1.5 BlueHDi (DV5RC, 130 PS) and the 2.0 BlueHDi (DW10FC, 160-180 PS). A plug-in hybrid Hybrid 225 combines the 1.6 PureTech with an electric motor for 180-225 PS combined output.
On the Hybrid 225 PHEV, apply the same high-voltage battery state-of-health check already documented for this drivetrain type in the 3008: request a battery SoH reading rather than relying on indicated electric range alone. The petrol and diesel engines follow the wet-belt, EGR and turbo-oil-supply checks already documented for their families elsewhere in this contour.
To judge a specific 508, confirm which body and which market it was built for, since equipment and engine availability differ — the China-exclusive 508L saloon in particular is a distinct variant. Get a full fault-code read across all control units and keep the printout.

Pre-purchase checklist
- ☐This engine family (DV5RC, 1.5 BlueHDi) was the subject of an official Stellantis recall (campaign MXL for Peugeot, NY5 for Citroen/DS) covering vehicles built 2017-early 2023, for a 7mm camshaft timing chain that can weaken or fail; check by VIN whether campaign MXL/NY5 applies to this specific car and ask for documented proof the recall work (reinforced 8mm chain, fitted on new production from February 2023) has been completed rather than relying on the absence of a warning light
