Peugeot 308 T9
The second-generation Peugeot 308 (T9) was built from June 2013 to May 2021 as a five-door hatchback, an SW estate and, in China, a four-door saloon. Petrol engines run from the naturally aspirated 1.2 (EB2F) through the turbocharged 1.2 PureTech (EB2DTS) to the 1.6 THP (EP6DT). Diesels span the 1.5 BlueHDi (DV5RC), the 1.6 e-HDi/BlueHDi (DV6C) and the 2.0 BlueHDi (DW10FC), with gearboxes from five/six-speed manual through six- and eight-speed Aisin automatics.
On the 2.0 BlueHDi, ask about the car's typical journey pattern and use the test drive to reach sustained higher load, since a pattern of short-trip-only use is relevant context for this diesel's EGR and particulate-filter systems — the 150 and 180 hp versions of this engine are documented as hardware-identical, differing only in ECU calibration. The 1.2 PureTech follows the wet-belt check already documented for this family, and the other diesels follow the EGR and turbo-oil-supply checks documented for their families elsewhere in this contour.
To judge a specific 308 T9, confirm which body you are looking at and cross-check the engine against it. Get a full fault-code read across all control units and keep the printout.

Pre-purchase checklist
- ☐This engine family (DV5RC, 1.5 BlueHDi) was the subject of an official Stellantis recall (campaign MXL for Peugeot, NY5 for Citroen/DS) covering vehicles built 2017-early 2023, for a 7mm camshaft timing chain that can weaken or fail; check by VIN whether campaign MXL/NY5 applies to this specific car and ask for documented proof the recall work (reinforced 8mm chain, fitted on new production from February 2023) has been completed rather than relying on the absence of a warning light
