Overview
Local preview — inspection orientation

The third-generation Peugeot 308 (P51) launched on 29 September 2021 as a five-door hatchback and an SW estate, built in Mulhouse, France. It launched with the 1.2 PureTech turbo petrol in 110 and 130 hp forms (EB2DT/EB2DTS) and a 130 hp BlueHDi diesel (DV5RC), followed shortly by two plug-in hybrid options combining a 1.6 PureTech engine with an electric motor: Hybrid 180 and Hybrid 225, offering up to 60 km of electric-only range.

The petrol and diesel engines follow the wet-belt and EGR/DPF checks already documented for their families elsewhere in this contour. On the Hybrid PHEV variants, apply the same high-voltage battery state-of-health check already documented for this drivetrain type in the 3008 and 508: request a battery SoH reading and charging history rather than relying on indicated electric range alone.

To judge a specific 308 P51, first confirm which drivetrain you are looking at — pure PureTech petrol, BlueHDi diesel, or Hybrid PHEV — since inspection priorities differ. Get a full fault-code read across all control units and keep the printout.

Filtered: DV5RC · 1.5 BlueHDi 100-130 (DV5RC).

  • This engine family (DV5RC, 1.5 BlueHDi) was the subject of an official Stellantis recall (campaign MXL for Peugeot, NY5 for Citroen/DS) covering vehicles built 2017-early 2023, for a 7mm camshaft timing chain that can weaken or fail; check by VIN whether campaign MXL/NY5 applies to this specific car and ask for documented proof the recall work (reinforced 8mm chain, fitted on new production from February 2023) has been completed rather than relying on the absence of a warning light
