Overview
Local preview — inspection orientation

The fourth-generation Focus (2018-2025) was never sold new in Russia, following Ford's 2019 exit from Russian passenger-car manufacturing and sales; every Mk4 example in the EU/RU secondary market was built for and imported from the EU lineup.

Its mainstream 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine carries the same documented cylinder-head coolant-intrusion risk confirmed on earlier EcoBoost Fox applications, so a cooling-system pressure test and an oil/coolant contamination check remain the relevant inspection route regardless of the newer bodyshell.

Assessing an individual Mk4 example means matching its engine and production year against its documents and VIN, then applying the EcoBoost coolant check or, for a 2.0 EcoBlue diesel car, that engine's own service history instead.

Filtered: ECOBOOST-1.0-FOX · 1.0 EcoBoost (Fox).

Pre-purchase checklist

Diagnostics
  • Pressure-test the cooling system and check for a slow pressure drop with no visible external leak; pull the dipstick and filler cap and check for a milky emulsion; a workshop can confirm with a UV-dye coolant trace or a borescope inspection of the cylinder head for micro-cracks
Documents
  • Confirm the exact engine from the V5C/registration document and VIN — the Mk4 spans 1.0 EcoBoost petrol and 2.0 EcoBlue diesel, which need different checks
