Reliability snapshot
The G30 5 Series uses BMW's modular B-series engines and is generally reliable. Reported items are mostly minor — infotainment/software quirks, occasional cooling components, and routine oil service. The B48 four-cylinder and B58 six-cylinder turbos are well regarded, as is the B57 diesel; N63 V8 cars need the usual attention to that engine. Keeping to Condition Based Service intervals is the main maintenance need.
