Reliability snapshot

The F20/F21 1 Series continued the rear-wheel-drive layout with turbocharged engines. Common items are the early N20 petrol timing chain and the N47/B47 diesel timing chain on earlier production, plus the oil-filter-housing gasket and cooling components. The later B-series engines (B48, B58, B47) improved on these concerns. The F20 is dependable when the timing-chain history of the specific engine is checked.
