Overview
Community orientation

The W463 II G-Class is the modern redesign of the iconic off-roader, launched in 2018 on an entirely new platform while retaining the classic body silhouette. Its production falls outside the MB Classic archive window (pre-2018), so this corpus is community fixture with minimal applications. The sole modelled spine engine is the M278 twin-turbo V8 (G 500) — already in the graph from the W221 corpus — and its known patterns resolve onto this generation at the engine level. Diesel and high-performance AMG variants are outside the modelled spine. See the per-configuration breakdown for which patterns apply. Community orientation only, not a reliability rating or a purchase recommendation.

Filtered: M278 · 4.7L V8 biturbo (M278).

Pre-purchase checklist

Cold start
  • Start the engine cold and listen for a timing-chain rattle in the first seconds
Diagnostics
  • Scan stored DTCs and check live fuel/ignition/boost data before the test drive
