The C218 CLS (2010–2018) is the second-generation four-door coupe and shares every spine engine with generations already in the graph: the M276 V6 petrol (CLS 350 / CLS 400), the M278 V8 petrol (CLS 500), the OM651 four-cylinder diesel (CLS 250 CDI), and the OM642 V6 diesel (CLS 350 CDI / CLS 350 BlueTEC d). A facelift in 2014 introduced the CLS 400 trim and the 9G-Tronic transmission while adding 4MATIC to several configurations. The generation adds no new occurrence patterns of its own; those patterns resolve at the engine level onto the applicable build windows. Pre-purchase checklist
- ☐Start the engine cold and listen for a timing-chain rattle in the first seconds
- ☐Scan stored DTCs and check live fuel/ignition/boost data before the test drive
