The C117 CLA is a four-door coupé (and, as the X117, a Shooting Brake) built on the same MFA transverse front-wheel-drive platform as the W176 A-Class. Its petrol trims (CLA 180, CLA 200, CLA 250) all run the M270 turbocharged four-cylinder in 1.6 and 2.0-litre forms; its diesels (CLA 180d, CLA 200d, CLA 220d) carry the OM651 2.1-litre CDI. The CLA 45 AMG (M133) is catalogue-only in this graph. The C117 shares both engine families with the W176 A-Class, W246 B-Class and X156 GLA and therefore adds no new occurrence patterns of its own; all M270 and OM651 patterns authored in the W176 corpus resolve onto this generation's configurations via the engine predicate. Pre-purchase checklist
- ☐Start the engine from cold and listen for rattling or ticking from the timing chain area
- ☐Scan stored DTCs and check live fuel/ignition/boost data before the test drive
- ☐Check high-pressure fuel rail pressure at idle and under load
- ☐Inspect intake valves / ports for carbon deposit build-up (GDI characteristic)
