Hyundai i30 GD
The October 2011 i30 GD is a hatchback conceived for Europe but documented in Korean specification: a 1.6-litre petrol four, front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic. A catalogue identifies the 135-PS 1.6 GDI as G4FD, a more useful starting point than talking about every i30 at once.
The engine and the car's character belong in the same inspection. If response or starting changes, diagnostics should show whether the question remains with intake and injection or has become mechanical. Oil use, noise or a compression concern calls for endoscopy and measurements before a repair estimate.
Assess a GD on the road, cold and warm, then compare what it does with the service record. That preserves the hatchback's coherence without replacing the condition of one car with a label for the whole generation.

Pre-purchase checklist
- ☐Inspect cylinders and measure compression before choosing an engine-repair scope
- ☐Use diagnostic data to distinguish intake/injection work from internal engine repair
